I still haven't been able to come up with the right words to describe everything that happened at the @onedollarultra this Saturday & Sunday. For now I'll just say it was the experience of a lifetime, and that @seanybrams of @runnersworldmag captured that amazing fever dream of a race so well. Look in the comments for the article.
@austinoffthegrid & @vic_zee pulled off something legendary with this event. More OneDollarUltras will happen, and I know they will be incredible, but I think this one will go down as one of the wildest days & nights of running in NYC history. A packed Times Sq, dodging fake gorillas, Central Park festivals, Brazil fans during World Cup, KNICKS IN 5, 4AM riots, police barricades blocking our street, 0.2 mile loops, and still we somehow kept running through the sunrise on the West Side Greenway.
32 laps. 133.4 miles completed. And this Top 5 pic just sums up so much what I'll remember from the One Dollar Ultra despite all that insanity. I met some of the most impressive people I'll ever meet this weekend. And we were competing, but we never stopped rooting for every other runner to get out there for the next lap. Especially @vkennedy18's 33rd. Now I'm happy that I get to call them my friends.
